8:00 am - 5:00 pm
South Texas College of Law
Advanced Child Custody program includes an in-depth examination of custody issues in a contested family law matter. Topics of discussion include psychological testing, elements of a proper child custody evaluation, importance of specific referral questions, identifying common and complex errors in the evaluation, deconstructing the evaluation, and evidentiary issues relating to custody litigation. Continuing the National Family Law Trial Institute’s learn by repetition approach, attendees also learn to develop direct and cross examination questions and then practice examination techniques by questioning nationally renowned forensic psychologist, Jonathan Gould. Dr. Gould is a Board-Certified Diplomate in Forensic Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology and testifies in child custody cases across the country. Dr. Gould is also the author of Psychological Experts in Divorce Actions, Conducting Scientifically Crafted Child Evaluations, and The Art and Science of Child Custody Evaluations. This course is taught by Dr. Gould and Lynn Kamin, a veteran practitioner of family law who has been recognized as one of the top divorce lawyers in the country.
